  • Digital Experience Interest

  • Wide-format sign and graphics companies comprise print-for-pay printing businesses that produce a wide range of large-scale printed products for use both indoors and out-of-home. Indoor applications include ADA signage, backlit displays, banners, blueprints & technical documents, event signage and tradeshow graphics, fine art reproductions, floor graphics, interior décor (including textiles, carpet, upholstery, home goods, ceramic tile, wood, and glass), museum graphics, packaging prototypes, retail (including in-store displays, point-of-purchase, and point-of-sale signage), soft signage, wallpaper, and window graphics. Out-of-home applications include banners, billboards, building wraps, bus shelters and street furniture, vehicle and fleet graphics, and wayfinding signage.

  • Apparel Decorators print to finished blanks: t-shirts, hats, jackets, etc. using screen printing technologies, direct-to-apparel digital printing, and dye sublimation printing. Apparel Decorators may also incorporate cut-to-sew technologies in their capabilities to expand on their finished product offerings. 

  • Industrial Applications, and Printed Electronics printers, also known as Functional Printers print functional, touchable and frequently used pieces using primarily screen-print technologies and some digital technologies as well. Their products are often used in everyday items such as cell phones, and wearables and occasionally incorporate LED, circuits or electronic components.

  • Package printers specialize in the printing -- and often the converting -- of labels, folding cartons, flexible packaging and corrugated packaging, along with direct-to-container printing. Common package printing processes include flexography, sheetfed and web offset, electrophotographic digital, inkjet digital, and rotogravure printing.

  • Commercial printing comprises print-for-pay printing businesses that produce a wide range of printed products, including marketing collateral, brochures, books, catalogs, publications, direct mail, flyers, business cards, stationery and more. Printing processes employed primarily include both sheetfed and webfed offset lithographic presses, as well as electrophotographic- and inkjet-based production printing presses. They also often provide ancillary services such as design, mailing, warehousing and fulfillment.

  • While installers are typically not also printers, they are highly skilled hands-on workers that install the graphics that SGIA printers’ produce – mainly in the wide format segment – on cars and other vehicles, retail and commercial applications.

  • An in-plant is an in-house printing department operated within a company or other organization that is not in the printing business. The majority of the in-plant’s work serves the internal needs of the organization.

  • Decorators imprint a logo, company name or advertising message on a promotional product (hard goods and soft goods). Imprinting methods include: screen printing, pad printing, offset lithography, dye sublimation, direct-to-garment inkjet, label/decal transfer, embroidery, embossing, debossing and hot stamping etc.
